Crusaders scrap out win a long way from home.Bristol Virginia- In a double header at Appalachian Athletic conference member Virginia Intermont the injury laden Crusaders displayed toughness by coming back and winning game 2 after dropping game one in what appeared to be a team with jet-lag from the 3.5 hour van ride to play.  game one saw good swings by many including Tyler Cross, Jon Clayton, Colby Cox and Senior Rob Micintire who remained consistent with 7 hits out of 8 chances on the day with one stolen base. Intermont swung heavy sticks and posted 9 runs to TTU's 4.  Game two saw a valiant mound effort by Brandon Siltz who threw a complete game, 6 strikeouts and only giving up 3 earned runs.  Freshman Short Stop Blake Wachtveitl proved to be maturing by stroking a two out two run triple to spark the team and in the 5th inning Freshman Colby Dixson (Ft Payne AL) continued his consistency at the plate by ripping a two run double to put the Crusaders ahead for good.  With three routine starters out for the season coach Whitley noted the pride that players were stepping up with to win games.  Senior Jeremy Mckay has played a solid 3rd base in Chris Altman's stead, Whitley also praised Lee Wilburn and James Lawson's efforts in playing solid baseball for the missing Captain Clay Robinson and standout utility player Luke Grow.  TTU hosts Covenant thursady 4/22/10 at 6pm.
