Tennessee Temple lost 7-3 to Ohio Christian but beat area rival Covenant College 7-1 in the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East softball region tournament Wednesday at Jackson, Tenn. The second-year Lady Crusaders play Ohio Christian again at 11 a.m. CDT today with the winner having to beat top-seeded host Union University twice for the championship. Union beat Covenant 9-0 in five innings in the first game. Temple's Raven Pope and Covenant's Jenni Jobe were all-region selections for the season. Jobe was 3-for-4 with a double against Temple, when teammate Madison Quirk was 2-for-2 with a double and Courtney Wagoner went 2-for-4. For Temple (25-18), Amanda Rector was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Pope was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Autrell Brazzle was 2-for-3 and Ashlen Mitchell and pitcher Carley Daniel each was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Haley Huskey scored twice. Pope tripled and batted in two runs against Ohio Christian, and Heather Smith was 2-for-3 and scored a run. While two teammates were 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs each, catcher Reagan Schrader from Grace Academy was 1-for-3 for Union (23-20) against Covenant, which got a lone hit from GPS graduate Morgan Lane, who was 1-for-2. Schrader did not play in Union's 5-0 win over Ohio Christian.
