This past weekend the Crusaders' volleyball team hosted their annual home tournament. The Crusaders finished the weekend 1-2, but the team fought hard against tough competition. Friday, October 4, the Crusaders opened the tournament with Mid-Continent University. After losing the first set 31-29, the Crusaders were unable to gain momentum, and lost the next two sets (21-25; 16-25).
Kiara Govan had 19 assists. Once again,
Shatoya Medford led the team with 18 digs, and
Kaylee Ginnings and
Lydia Vick contributed 14 and 10 digs, respectively. Offensively,
Victoria Smith kept the Crusaders alive with 8 kills.
After losing to MCU, the Crusaders were looking for redemption against Georgia Northwestern Technical College. The Crusaders found what they were looking for with a 5 set victory (25-14; 21-25;25-17; 23-25; 15-6).
Kiara Govan beat Tennessee Temple's record with 41 assists and contributed 15 digs.
Kaylee Ginnings shined for the Crusaders defense with 24 digs and contributed 4 service aces. Shatoya Meford had a solid 16 digs, and
Lydia Vick had a constant defensive performance with 14 digs.
Natasha Petrillo broke Tennessee Temple Kill Record with 16 Kills for the match.
Victoria Smith and
Shatoya Medford contributed 15 and 12 Kills, respectively, for the win.

Friday night, the Crusaders faced Bluefield College Saturday, October 5. Once again, the Crusaders fought a long, hard battle, but was unable to capitalize on the win. The Crusaders lost in five sets (17-25; 25-20; 25-20; 23-25; 8-15).
Kiara Govan, once again, broke the TTU Assist Record with 45 assists.
Shatoya Medford broke TTU's Dig Record with 32 digs.
Kaylee Ginnings added 18 digs.
Lydia Vick added 15 digs.
Natasha Petrillo and
Victoria Smith had 10 and 11 digs, respectively. The Crusaders' offense was well rounded.
Shatoya Medford broke the TTU's Kill Record, which was broken the night before , with 18 kills.
Natasha Petrillo and
Lydia Vick had 11 kills.
Victoria Smith had 12 kills, and
Kaylee Ginnings had 10 kills.
