Tennessee Temple lost a hard fought battle on the road against Tennessee Wesleyan College Last night. In the past two seasons the Lady Crusaders have been 1-3 in competitions against TWC.
From the opening tip the scoring and lead continued to bounce back and forth and the game was tied 29-29 going into the locker room at halftime.
Halfway into the second half the Lady crusaders found themselves down by as much as 8 points, but that deficit quickly disappeared when the game was tied again with 2 minutes left to play. With several missed shots by both teams it came down to who would score last and with 14 seconds left on the clock TWC scored on a back door play to take a two point lead. The lady crusaders had a shot to tie only to see Cooper's mid range jump shot roll out. Then forced to foul to get the ball back, TWC hit both foul shots to put the game out of reach ending the game 53-49. "They are a good team and I felt that we gave a good account of ourselves on the road, with our lack of size to hold a team to only 2 offensive rebounds for 40 minutes showed great resilience" Coach Liburd
Temple Scoring was as follows:
Kanetra Gonzalez 15 and 5 steals
Anshell Cooper 12.
Alexis McGhee 6 and 7 Rebounds
Cherelle James 5
Shayla Wilson 4
Jess Salera 4
