In game one, TTU came up one run short on surprising the nationally ranked Hornets on Tuesday afternoon at Marreitta, GA.
Temple had a 3 to 1 lead going into the bottom of the third, when with two outs a defensive mistake by the Crusaders helped the Hornets tie the game. TTU had the go ahead run on second base in the 4th and 6th inning but could not score. Southern Poly scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kyle Welch took the loss pitching a complete game giving up only two unearned runs. Pablo Rodriguez had an RBI double, and Ariel Gonzales was 2 for 3 with a RBI in the lossing effort.
The Hornets jumped on the Crusaders early in the second game with a 5-run third inning and a 4-run fourth inning to put the second game out of reach. Gonzales had two hits, and Nathaniel Rollins scored the only run in game two. The Crusaders dropped to 7 wins and 5 losses. TTU will be in action this coming Saturday with a double header against Berea College of Kentucky.
