Trailing 6-3 in the bottom of the 7th Temple scored twice to bring the game to 6-5. In the bottom of the ninth facing Lee University All-American closer Pablo Lopez, the Crusaders tied the game when freshman Nathaniel Rollins led off the inning with an infield single and scored on a throwing error by Lee's right fielder following Christian Salgado's single to right. Then with pinch runner Zachary Barnes at second with no outs, Lopez was able to stop the threat with back-to-back strikeouts and ended the inning on Aaron Bristol's ground out to 3rd. The Flames jumped on the Crusaders by scoring 4 runs in the 10th for the win that included Elvis Sosa's 3-run homer. The Crusaders dropped to 9 wins with 6 losses.
David Adair took the loss in relief. Offensively for the Crusaders, Ariel Gonzales was 3 for 5 with one RBI, Christian Salgado was 2 for 5 with an RBI double, Clay Robinson had a 2-run single, and Nathaniel Rollins was 2 for 2 with one run scored. The Crusaders will face another pre-season ranked team when they travel this coming Thursday to play Tennessee Wesleyan College.
