Melvin Williams - Head Coach
Melvin Williams is entering his eleventh year overall as a collegiate coach, and in his second year with Tennessee Temple University.  
 
In his first season at Temple, Williams led the Lady Crusaders to a 18-12 overall record and reached the Semifinals in the South Region. His team also accomplished a 12th ranked season in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Two athletes were named All Region and one All American for the 2007/08 year.
  
Prior to arriving at Tennessee Temple University, Williams served as Assistant Coach at
Cumberland University under Lonnie Thompson (1 year), Tennessee State(2 years) and Head Coach at Chattanooga State( 6 years). He began his head coaching tenure at Chattanooga State in 1999 after a one year stint as an assistant with the men's team. He officially began his coaching career in 1992 on the high school level in Georgia under Hall of Fame Coach Lawanza Crutcher. Under Williams guidance,  the CSCC Men's team reached the semifinals of the TJCAA Tournament three consecutive season (2000,2001,2002). In 2003, his men's team went to TJCAA Championship. They Lost the game by one point. In that span, the Tigers also posted back-to-back 20 plus win season. In 2002, the Lady tigers finished fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Tournament after dominating their region with a 30-5 overall record. Williams program produced several ALL-American and All Regions selections as well as NJCAA Most Valuable Player Honorees.
 
For his efforts that season, he was tabbed the region VII Coach of the Year (2001-02). Williams also had the
honor of being voted by his peers to coach the All Star game four years running (2001-2004).
 
Williams was also a recipient of the Alberta Lee Cox Sportsmanship award.
  
After graduating from high school in 1979, Williams began a career with U.S Navy where he played on the
All Navy Team for four years. In 1985, named to the All-Tournament team after his team won the Navy
Championship.
  
A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Williams earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering
Technology.
 
Melvin is married to the former Gale Wyatt of Chattanooga. The couple has one daughter, Lauren who is
10 years old.
